Ski Switzerland Crans-Montana Resort Altitude 1500m - Set high above the Rhone Valley in the southern Swiss Alps on a sun-drenched plateau is the charming ski resort of Crans-Montana which is made of the three small communities of Montana, Crans Sur Sierre and Aminona. With the ski area of Crans-Montana being almost entirely south-facing it has gained the reputation as the sunniest ski resort in Switzerland. It is a chic resort with one of the most impressive 360 degree panoramic vistas in the Alps from the Matterhorn to Mont Blanc the highest mountain in Europe. With 140 kilometres of ski slopes stretching from the sunny plateau to the 3,000 metre Plaine Morte Glacier the resort is ideal for all abilities. For expert and advanced skiers take the chairlift to La Toula for some testing descents and the popular carving pistes with the 12 kilometre “Piste Nationale” the longest in the area. The majority of runs are classed intermediate red runs but there is still 55 kilometres of blue runs ideal for beginners and family skiing on gentle confidence building slopes.
